For catering enquiries, start by confirming your pax count and minimum order requirement — standard buffets in Singapore typically require 30–50 pax, with mini-buffet options available for smaller gatherings of 8–15. Discuss your preferred format (buffet, mini-buffet, bento, or live station), your dietary mix (halal, vegetarian, no-pork-no-lard, no-beef, gluten-free), and ask whether a menu tasting is available before you commit. Confirm the delivery and setup window, what equipment is provided (chafing dishes, warmers, serving tongs), whether a buffet attendant will be on-site, teardown timing, and the deposit and balance schedule. As no MUIS halal certificate is listed, clarify the halal status of specific dishes before booking if your guest list includes Muslim guests.
Contact Guan Hoe Soon Restaurant via WhatsApp, phone, or the enquiry form to confirm your event date, headcount, menu preferences, and delivery logistics before placing a deposit.
Confirm the SFA Food Shop or Catering Licence (and MUIS halal certificate where required), book a tasting before paying the deposit, and put the per-pax rate, minimum headcount, dietary mix, delivery and setup window, and balance schedule in writing.
Was so busy gorging myself on the mains that I failed to take photos of subsequent dishes. Every single dish had its own rempah flavour. Service staff was patient enough to let us know how many pieces of protein each dish usually has so that we know what sizes to order. We went for small size dishes so that we could sample a wider variety. Even then each piece of protein was huge! The prawns were huge, chicken were large chunks and well marinated such that even chicken breast was tender and nicely seasoned. Otah had abundant chunks of fish in it. If you are used to the usual “Peranakan” offerings outside where every single dish uses the same type of rempah of chilli, onion and sugar, doused in oil, you might not be used to this restaurant. There were a few dishes we ordered like the ayam buah keluak that was more sour from a tomato base (I think) but they did it so well I kept going back for the gravy. Most dishes leaned towards a savoury profile and this type of Peranakan profile is just such a rare find in Singapore. For a party of 5, we were adequately filled.
I really liked the buah keluak chicken. The gravy was really delicious! The otak-otak and the rendang were really good too. Service was very attentive and pleasant!
At the weekend family gathering we came to the oldest Nyonya restaurant in Singapore to eat. The food is very fresh, unique and distinctive. Especially the black fruit chicken, it has a perfect combination of color, taste and fragrance. The fragrance is unique. After taking a bite, you can't help but take another bite. The fish is also very delicious, with a special taste and a full layer of spices. The second feeling is clear, it makes people have a great appetite, the aftertaste is endless, and the service is also quite powerful, this is a satisfying meal, and I will come back next time 👍👍👍👍
Extremely disappointed with the taste of the food especially the otah, tasted like a sponge soaked with water. Very thin slice for $9.80. Rendang is ok but so little gravy. I would definitely NOT recommend anybody to try this restaurant.
A historic Nonya restaurant that is literally a part of Singapore's rich, diverse and florid culinary history. Located in Katong the restaurant was steeped in typical peranakan styling. The owner was very nice and made some recommendations and luckily we were able to try the roast pork, normally you need to order in advance and it certainly did not disappoint. It was a very good roast pork. Tried all the usual peranakan dishes and they were all great. The buah keluak was a standout. Cendol was very good with the gula Melaka doused over the ice. Overall an excellent peranakan restaurant.

Guan Hoe Soon Restaurant is priced in the mid-range ($$) on a per-pax basis, but specific rates should be confirmed directly as they vary by menu format and headcount. For context, Singapore market norms run roughly S$15–25/pax for standard buffets, S$18–30/pax for mini-buffets (minimum 8–15 pax), S$8–18/pax for bento delivery, and S$30–60/pax for live-station spreads, with a minimum headcount of around 30–50 pax for full buffet setups. Beyond the per-pax rate, confirm whether delivery and setup to your venue is included or billed separately, whether equipment such as chafing dishes and warmers is provided, whether a buffet attendant is available on-site (typically S$80–150 per attendant), and the deposit and balance schedule. GST will apply on top of the quoted rate. See the full catering cost guide for Singapore →
No MUIS halal certificate is listed for Guan Hoe Soon Restaurant, so guests who require certified halal food should clarify the halal status of specific dishes directly before booking. 'No pork, no lard' without MUIS certification is not the same as certified halal and may not meet the standard for all Muslim guests. For other dietary requirements — vegetarian, no-beef (for Hindu guests), or specific allergen needs — confirm with the team at the time of enquiry. Ask about cross-contamination protocols for events with a mixed dietary guest list, and whether a menu tasting is available before you pay the deposit. Most caterers offer a tasting session for orders above a minimum value, and it is worth requesting one to confirm portion sizes and flavour before committing.
No regulatory licences are currently listed for Guan Hoe Soon Restaurant on KakiList. Before booking, ask the restaurant directly to confirm its SFA Food Shop or Catering Licence number and hygiene grade — A is the highest, then B, C, and D — as this is a mandatory requirement for any commercial caterer in Singapore. You may also verify SFA-licensed operators on the SFA online directory. For food safety, cooked dishes should be served within a 2–3 hour cooked-to-served window, with hot food held above 60°C and cold food below 5°C per SFA guidelines. Confirm the setup arrival time, hot-hold equipment provided, buffet replenishment protocol during the event, and the policy for safe handling of leftovers. Confirm the SFA Food Shop or Catering Licence, book a tasting before paying the deposit, and put the per-pax rate, minimum headcount, dietary mix, delivery and setup window, and balance schedule in writing.
