About KK Women's and Children's Hospital
KK Women's and Children's Hospital (KKH) is a public specialist hospital located at 100 Bukit Timah Road, Singapore, offering paediatric services across a broad range of conditions and subspecialties. It is KakiList-verified, meaning operating details and contact channels have been confirmed. The hospital carries a 2.9/5 rating across 1,483 Google reviews — a robust sample size, though ratings for large public hospitals frequently reflect waiting-time frustration rather than clinical outcome quality and should be interpreted in that context.
Families seeking paediatric care at KKH typically access the hospital through two pathways: a polyclinic or GP referral letter to the Specialist Outpatient Clinic (SOC), which attracts subsidised consultation fees for Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents and is the standard route for non-urgent referrals; or direct walk-in to the Children's Emergency for acute presentations. Subspecialties available include general paediatrics, neonatology, paediatric cardiology, oncology, neurology, orthopaedics, and developmental and behavioural medicine, among others. Inpatient wards operate across subsidised B2, B1, and private A-class room types, each with different MediShield Life and Integrated Shield Plan co-payment implications. The National Childhood Immunisation Programme (NIP) schedule and developmental milestone assessments are managed through the polyclinic network prior to specialist referral for complex presentations.
To begin, call the hospital or submit an enquiry via the contact form to confirm the relevant subspecialty clinic, referral requirements, and current waiting times before your visit.
Verify the consulting doctor's name on the Singapore Medical Council register before booking, and for any planned procedure request a written financial counselling estimate that itemises insurance payout, MediSave deduction, and out-of-pocket portions before paying any deposit.

Impressed with the seamless visitor registration but not the exit process. First time visiting a patient at the kids Tower. Visitors have to self register and take a photo. At the lift gantry, it scans your face to enter. 4 visitors allowed but system doesn’t scan face for exit? Can only comment for Ward A - didn’t see any Ward B/C
I am extremely disappointed with the service at the Diagnostic Department. The waiting time was excessively long. We waited for over an hour, and when our queue number was finally called, it was flashed briefly and we were directed to Room 17 under the radiologist, Katrina. As my mother is elderly and walks slowly, we took less than a minute to reach the room. However, we were told that we had missed our queue number and were instructed to wait outside, with the assurance that someone would call us. No one did. After waiting for some time with no follow-up, I had to return to the counter myself to explain our situation. Only then did the staff realise what had happened. This experience was frustrating and distressing, particularly for an elderly patient. The radiologist appeared rushed, which made the interaction feel dismissive and not aligned with patient-centred care. KKH is known for its standards of care, and this experience fell far below expectations. I strongly urge the department to review its queue management process, staff communication practices, and approach towards elderly patients, to ensure that similar incidents do not recur.
KKH service has been extremely disappointing. Admission staff, the level of empathy and basic courtesy has been lacking. As parents, we are already physically and emotionally exhausted caring for a sick child. We are not asking to be treated like royalty — we are simply asking to be treated with kindness, patience and respect. Instead, when we try to explain our situation or ask for help, we are often cut off mid-sentence or spoken to in a dismissive manner. This only adds more stress and frustration to parents who are already going through a very difficult time. Healthcare is not just about medical treatment. Compassion, empathy and communication are just as important when dealing with patients and their families. It is deeply disappointing that when feedback is raised, the response often feels like the institution is quick to defend staff rather than acknowledge the experience of patients and their families. Perhaps it is time for all frontline staff — especially those at admissions — to undergo proper service training or Certified Service Professional courses to improve how they interact with parents and patients. A little empathy, patience and understanding can make a huge difference. Parents who come to the hospital are already worried and overwhelmed. The least we hope for is to be treated with respect, not dismissal. Very disappointed with the experience.
I hve to compliment the staff in O&G Urgent Clinic/EPAU. since my 1st appointment, they've been so attentive and supportive. They explained every procedure & side effects so I know what I was getting into and made sure I understood. They also showed so much support due to my pregnancy complications, which I appreciate so much. Im sure in the job, they have to be desensitised to it but their empathy is so huge.

Fees depend heavily on the subsidy class and referral pathway. Singapore Citizens attending a KKH Specialist Outpatient Clinic (SOC) with a polyclinic or GP referral letter pay approximately S$30–80 per subsidised first consultation, with follow-up visits lower. Without a referral or at A-class private rates, first specialist consultations run S$120–250. Children's Emergency attendance fees start at around S$120–150 before investigations. Common add-ons billed separately include blood panels (S$60–200), X-rays and imaging (S$80–400+), procedures, and prescription medications. Planned day surgery or inpatient admissions should be accompanied by a written financial counselling estimate from the hospital's billing team, clearly splitting MediShield Life payout, Integrated Shield Plan (IP) coverage, MediSave deduction, and out-of-pocket portions before any deposit is paid. GST applies on applicable services. See the full paediatric cost guide for Singapore →
KKH is a public hospital operated under SingHealth and is subject to MOH oversight under the Healthcare Services Act, with institutional licensing held at the hospital level rather than as an individual clinic licence. No specific regulatory licences are listed in this KakiList entry — families should contact the hospital directly or check the MOH licensee directory to confirm current licensing details. All practising specialists at KKH are individually registered with the Singapore Medical Council (SMC) — searchable at smc.gov.sg by the doctor's name to confirm registration status, specialist accreditation (e.g. Paediatric Medicine), and any disciplinary history. Senior consultants and heads of department typically hold FAMS (Fellow of the Academy of Medicine Singapore) fellowship credentials in their respective subspecialties, which is the meaningful additional credential beyond basic SMC registration in this context.
Integrated Shield Plans (IPs) layered on MediShield Life cover inpatient stays and selected day-surgery procedures at KKH, subject to your plan's ward-class entitlement, deductible, co-insurance, and rider rules. For any planned procedure or admission, request a Letter of Guarantee from your IP insurer in advance — this confirms the insurer's payout commitment and prevents billing disputes after the fact. Pre-authorisation is required by most IP insurers for non-emergency admissions. MediSave can be used for selected outpatient treatments under the MediSave 500/700 withdrawal limits (S$500 per year general outpatient, S$700 per year under the Chronic Disease Management Programme for listed conditions). Separate MediSave limits of S$200–600 apply for outpatient cancer treatment, dialysis, and selected scans. For all planned procedures, request a written financial counselling session at KKH — the hospital will issue an itemised pre-treatment estimate splitting insurance, MediSave, and out-of-pocket portions, which is the single most important step to avoid surprise bills.
