About Makan Mate Catering
Makan Mate Catering is an islandwide event catering provider based at Fishery Port Road, Singapore. The listing has been verified by KakiList, though no ACRA registration has been confirmed and no regulatory licences are currently on record. With only 4 Google reviews at 4.3 out of 5, the rating is too small a sample to draw firm conclusions about service quality.
When planning your event, contact Makan Mate Catering via WhatsApp, phone, or the enquiry form to confirm your headcount and minimum order, buffet or bento format, and the dietary mix your guests require — including halal certification, vegetarian, no-pork-no-lard, and no-beef options. Ask whether menus can be adjusted for mixed dietary events and whether a tasting session is available before you commit. Clarify the delivery and setup window for your venue, whether equipment such as chafing dishes and warmers is included or billed separately, whether a buffet attendant will be on-site, and what the balance and deposit schedule looks like.
Reach out to Makan Mate Catering directly via WhatsApp or phone to confirm availability for your event date, request a per-pax quote with the full itemised cost, and arrange a tasting before paying any deposit.
Confirm the SFA Food Shop or Catering Licence (and MUIS halal certificate where required), book a tasting before paying the deposit, and put the per-pax rate, minimum headcount, dietary mix, delivery and setup window, and balance schedule in writing.
The food is delicious! The meat was tender and the papadum was fresh and crispy. Everyone finds the meal satisfying!
Not impressed. Ordered and paid for Bountiful set for 15 people. No follow up or email notification after 2 days. I've to call and ask them if they're coming on the date of order. Ordered at 12pm, the office told me they'll come at 1130am-1230pm set up. Day itself finally someone call me at 1135 saying he's on the way. By the time he set up was 1240pm. Food quality was poor. Lots of rice but other than that, everything else doesn't look appetizing or nice. More like coffeeshop pick and choose rice dishes. Spent SGD 700, I could have order from Putien spent SGD 400 with lots of really nice food. By 430pm, still no one came to clear, I've to call the driver and he told me he's coming only at 620pm. I've to tell him to please come by 5pm as we're all out of the house by then. Will never order from Makan Mate. Poor quality food that doesn't justify the price.

Per-pax pricing depends on format and headcount. Singapore market norms give a useful reference: standard buffet runs S$15–25 per pax with a minimum of around 30 pax, premium buffet S$25–40 per pax, mini-buffet for smaller groups S$18–30 per pax with a minimum of 8–15 pax, bento delivery S$8–18 per pax, and live-station spreads S$30–60 per pax. Wedding banquet sit-down at hotels or restaurants is typically priced per table of ten at S$800–2,000 or more. Confirm the exact per-pax rate and minimum order with Makan Mate Catering directly, and ask what is included — delivery and setup fee for non-central addresses, equipment rental such as chafing dishes and warmers, buffet attendant on-site (typical S$80–150 per attendant), waste collection, and GST. No regulatory licences are currently on record for Makan Mate Catering, so you should ask directly whether the kitchen holds an SFA Food Shop or Catering Licence and, if halal menus are offered, a MUIS halal certificate. A MUIS certificate displays a licence number and validity dates — 'halal-friendly' or 'no pork no lard' without MUIS certification is not the same as certified halal and will not meet the standard for guests who require strict halal compliance. Also confirm vegetarian options (lacto-ovo versus vegan), no-beef dishes for Hindu guests, gluten-free and nut-free availability, and the cross-contamination protocols used for events with a mixed dietary guest list. Ask whether a menu tasting is available before you book — most caterers offer this above a minimum order value.
Legitimate caterers hold an SFA Food Shop or Catering Licence with a hygiene grade — A is highest, then B, C, D. Halal-certified caterers also hold a MUIS certificate; both should be visible on the company's website or available on request. No licences are currently on record for Makan Mate Catering, so confirm these documents directly before booking. Cooked food should be served within a roughly 2–3 hour cooked-to-served window for hot dishes, with hot-hold above 60°C and cold-hold below 5°C per SFA guidelines. Confirm the setup arrival time, buffet replenishment protocol, and the policy for safe handling of leftovers. For events above 20 guests, avoid proceeding without sight of the SFA licence — an unlicensed kitchen leaves you without recourse in the event of a food-safety incident.
