About My First Dentist Dr Tabitha Chng

About My First Dentist Dr Tabitha Chng

My First Dentist Dr Tabitha Chng is a paediatric dental practice located at Royal Square Medical Centre in Novena, serving patients islandwide. The practice holds a 4.6-star rating across 86 Google reviews, a moderate sample that provides a reasonable directional signal. KakiList has confirmed operating details and contact channels; however, no ACRA registration or regulatory licences have been supplied to this listing, so parents are encouraged to verify credentials directly with the clinic.

For a first paediatric dental visit, parents typically contact the clinic by phone or enquiry form to arrange an appointment suited to the child's age and presenting concern — whether a routine check-up and clean, fluoride application, fissure sealants, or management of dental anxiety. Paediatric dentists are trained to work with infants through to adolescents, adapting techniques for each developmental stage and often using tell-show-do methods or nitrous oxide sedation for anxious young patients. It is worth confirming the range of services offered, the dentist's paediatric dental qualifications, and whether the practice can accommodate children with special needs or sensory sensitivities. Fees at private paediatric dental clinics in Singapore are not subsidised under MediShield Life for routine dental care, though Medisave may be used for selected oral surgical procedures — confirm coverage in writing before any planned procedure.

Contact My First Dentist Dr Tabitha Chng directly by phone or through the enquiry form on their listing to book a first appointment and request a written fee estimate for the intended treatment.

My son has been visiting My First Dentist for a year now and Dr Doris is my son’s very first dentist. Dr Doris and her team is fantastic with kids! They make sure kids don’t feel overwhelmed, nervous, scared or have trauma’s of visiting a dentist again. The way Dr Doris talks playfully with the children and always having a smile on her face makes both kids and parents feel at ease and trusted. I feel we are in good hands everytime we come for our check ups. They give coins for children to redeem a toy as a reward after the treatment is over which my son always looks forward to. They are super timely which makes our visit very smooth. Make sure to book your appointments really early in advance as they are usually fully booked for weeks.

Dr. Tabitha was amazing with my son’s tongue tie procedure. She’s extremely knowledgeable, gentle, and took the time to explain everything clearly, which really put us at ease. The procedure went smoothly and the aftercare guidance was very thorough. You can tell she truly cares about her patients. The only downside is the long wait list — but honestly, it’s worth it for the quality of care she provides. Highly recommend!

Brought my 2.5yo toddler to his first dental visit today. As he is usually quite wary in new environment, I really appreciate how gentle and caring the staff is with him, from the dentist (Dr Doris Chua) to the dental assistant at the start when taking his height and weight. Dr Doris Chua is also v clear and concise in her explanation to us on how to care for our toddler’s hygiene, and the type of toothbrush and toothpaste to go for. Very pleased with how the first visit turned out - some resistance from our boy during the check (as expected) but he walked out smiling and looking forward to the next visit!

I personally have feared visiting dentists as I did not have a good childhood dental experience. Because of this, I want to ensure that my kids have good experience each time they’re at the dentist. We’ve been visiting The First Dentist since my firstborn was 1 and every 6 months since. Every experience has been great- everyone in the clinic is nice and friendly. They are especially great with children and their professionalism is commendable!!

Highly highly recommend Dr Tabitha! We visited her regarding my baby’s tongue and lip ties. After the procedure, as my baby had some discomfort, she was helpful in following up with us and provided advice and support. When we had other queries on the healing process, Dr Tabitha was also there to address them and reassure us. It is evident that she truly cares for her patients!

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does My First Dentist Dr Tabitha Chng charge?

Paediatric dental consultation fees at private clinics in Singapore typically run S$80–150 for a first visit, with routine scaling and polishing S$80–180, fluoride application S$30–60, fissure sealants S$80–150 per tooth, and fillings S$100–300 per tooth depending on material and complexity. Nitrous oxide sedation (laughing gas) for anxious children usually adds S$80–200 per session, and general anaesthesia for extensive treatment in very young children or high-anxiety cases is significantly higher. GST applies on private dental services. Routine dental consultations and procedures are generally not claimable under MediShield Life or standard Integrated Shield Plans; however, MediSave may be used for selected oral surgical procedures (e.g. tooth extraction under general anaesthesia) — confirm this with the clinic before treatment. Request a written fee estimate for any planned procedure so there are no surprises at the point of billing. See the full paediatric cost guide for Singapore →

Is My First Dentist Dr Tabitha Chng MOH-licensed and how do I verify the dentist?

Every legitimate dental clinic in Singapore must hold an MOH Healthcare Services Licence under the Healthcare Services Act, verifiable on the MOH licensee directory. Dentists — including paediatric specialists — are registered with the Singapore Dental Council (SDC), not the Singapore Medical Council (SMC), as dentistry sits under the Dental Registration Act. You can search Dr Tabitha Chng by name on the SDC public register to confirm registration status and any specialist accreditation in paediatric dentistry. No regulatory licences have been supplied to this KakiList listing, so parents should verify both the clinic's MOH Healthcare Services Licence and the dentist's SDC registration directly before booking. A paediatric dental specialist will hold a recognised postgraduate qualification (e.g. Fellowship in Dental Surgery in Paediatric Dentistry, or equivalent) beyond general dental registration — worth confirming if specialist-level care is the reason for choosing this practice. Verify the doctor's name on the Singapore Dental Council register and the clinic's MOH Healthcare Services Licence before booking, and for any planned procedure request a written financial counselling estimate that itemises insurance payout, MediSave deduction, and out-of-pocket portions before paying any deposit.

How do I use MediSave or insurance at My First Dentist Dr Tabitha Chng?

Routine dental care — check-ups, scaling and polishing, fillings, fluoride treatment — is not covered by MediShield Life or most Integrated Shield Plans (IPs), and MediSave cannot be used for these procedures. However, MediSave can be used for selected oral surgical procedures such as tooth extractions performed under local or general anaesthesia, subject to MediSave withdrawal limits. Some private dental insurers and corporate dental benefit plans do cover paediatric dental visits — check your child's policy wording carefully, as coverage varies widely between insurers and plans. For any planned procedure requiring sedation or general anaesthesia, request a pre-treatment financial counselling session and a written itemised estimate from the clinic before proceeding, so you understand the full out-of-pocket cost. Pre-authorisation from your insurer, where applicable, should be sought before treatment rather than after. See the full paediatric cost guide for Singapore →
