About National Dental Centre Singapore Paediatric Dentistry
National Dental Centre Singapore (NDCS) Paediatric Dentistry is a public specialist dental service located at 5 Second Hospital Ave, Singapore 168938, providing dental care for infants, children, and adolescents. KakiList has verified the operating details and contact channel. The service carries a 3.7/5 rating across 528 Google reviews — a robust sample, though the spread of scores warrants reading individual reviews to understand the range of patient experiences. No regulatory licences have been supplied to KakiList directly; as a national centre operating under SingHealth, NDCS is governed by MOH under the Healthcare Services Act, but parents should confirm the relevant clinic licence and the named dentist's Singapore Dental Council registration before appointments.
For a first visit, parents typically contact the centre by phone or through the online enquiry form to schedule an initial consultation. Paediatric dental care at a specialist centre is usually warranted for complex cases — dental decay requiring general anaesthesia, developmental anomalies, cleft palate management, special needs patients, or children with dental anxiety that general practice dentists are unable to manage. Referral from a polyclinic, GP, or general dental practitioner is the usual pathway into a public hospital specialist dental service and attracts a subsidised consultation rate for Singapore Citizens; direct self-referral to a specialist outpatient clinic (SOC) is possible but incurs a higher fee. Parents should bring the child's medical history, any existing dental records, and the referral letter if applicable.
Contact the centre by phone or through the enquiry form to confirm current appointment availability, the referral requirement for your child's specific condition, and the expected out-of-pocket cost after MediShield Life or Integrated Shield Plan coverage is applied.
Verify the named dentist's registration on the Singapore Dental Council register and the clinic's MOH Healthcare Services Licence before booking, and for any planned procedure under general anaesthesia request a written financial counselling estimate that itemises MediSave deduction, insurance payout, and out-of-pocket portions before paying any deposit.
I was referred to this clinic for gum issue and was fortunate to be assigned to Ms Nadia Ariffin’s care. Over several appointments, her calming tone of voice and gentle approach made every visit feel incredibly comfortable and stress-free. She is remarkably patient and thorough, never hurriedly rushing through the appointment, that showed her dedication to patient care. I am so pleased to be officially discharged from follow-up today. I highly recommend Ms Nadia to anyone looking for an expert professional who prioritizes patient comfort. Thanks Ms Nadia!
I am writing to submit official patient feedback to commend Dr Benjamin Ng Chee Wee for his exemplary care during my daughter’s recent consultation. Dr Ng demonstrated strong clinical judgement and decisiveness in managing my daughter’s case. I would like to particularly highlight his ethical approach in retrieving and carefully reviewing the 3-D imaging, while being mindful not to expose my daughter to unnecessary radiation. This reflects a high level of professional integrity and patient safety awareness. In addition, Dr Ng was patient and clear in explaining the clinical considerations and treatment options. His explanation helped me understand the importance of preserving my daughter’s tooth, which is a significant tooth, rather than proceeding with extraction. His calm and thorough communication provided reassurance and confidence in the treatment plan. I would like to express my appreciation to Dr Benjamin Ng Chee Wee for his professionalism, ethical practice, and patient-centred care. Please convey my thanks to him.
Excellent service and professional care! Outstanding dental care. Dentist and nurses are caring, gentle and patient. Always take time to explain. Facilities are clean and well organised. Appointments are always on time and short waiting time. Very efficient!
Dear NDCS, It gives me great pleasure to share my wonderful experience i had with NDCS on my first visit. I am very impressed by our nation's public health care system. Efficiency at NDCS is amazing. I had my x-ray done immediately after seeing Doctor and within minutes from X-ray, doctor saw me again. This is as good, if not, better than private dentist I have been seeing my entire life! I want to make special mention of Doctor Teo Guo Nian and DSA Shanel Lim. Doctor Teo took the extra effort to help me understand how I can better manage my TMJ issue as a sportsman. His unrushed detailed explanation impressed me that he held NDCS at the highest level of public service! I am comparing Doctor Teo to all private dentists I have met my entire life. Fantastic doctor and his team, please send my compliments to the team Once again a big thank you, NDCS.
Today I was scheduled for an appointment at 2.45pm according to healthhub. At 2pm I registered. While I was on the way from Bayshore to NDC, the doctor called to say the appointment for today should have been cancelled. My next appointment was supposed to be in Mar. Apparently the registration desk forgot to cancel today's appointment. So only after 8 registered on healthhub that they realized i don't need to go and I was already on the MCE!!!! So I drove on and turn around at the next exit. and I could have done so many other of my own work if this was told to me earlier. Incredible!!! It takes them so long to do a simple thing. Check condition of tooth make a band 1 visit. Check whether the tooth has enough length another trip. Finally when I thought it's time to do the crowning it's cancelled. And every trip cost 300-400.

Fees at a public specialist dental service differ depending on whether you attend via a polyclinic or GP referral (subsidised rate, typically lower) or as a direct self-paying patient. As a general guide, specialist dental consultation at a public centre for Singapore Citizens with a referral runs in the range of S$30–80 after subsidy; without a referral, fees are higher and closer to private-specialist rates of S$100–200+. Investigations such as dental X-rays, OPG panoramic films, or CBCT scans are billed separately, as are any procedures — fillings, extractions, space maintainers, or general anaesthesia sessions, which can run S$2,000–6,000+ inclusive of hospital and anaesthetist fees. For procedures requiring general anaesthesia, request a written financial counselling estimate that itemises the subsidised or insured portion, MediSave deduction (dental procedures under GA may qualify for MediSave use), and the out-of-pocket balance before agreeing to treatment. NDCS is a public specialist dental institution under SingHealth and operates under MOH oversight pursuant to the Healthcare Services Act. No licence details have been supplied to KakiList directly, so parents should verify the clinic's MOH Healthcare Services Licence on the MOH licensee directory and confirm the named dentist's registration on the Singapore Dental Council (SDC) public register at sdc.gov.sg — a search by name will show registration status and any specialist accreditation in paediatric dentistry. Specialist paediatric dentists at NDCS typically hold a Fellowship in Dental Surgery (FDS) or equivalent postgraduate qualification from an accredited college. Confirm the specific dentist assigned to your child before the appointment, as NDCS is a training institution and patients may be seen by registrars under specialist supervision. If that distinction matters for your child's case, request a senior specialist consultation when booking.
Most routine outpatient dental consultations and non-surgical dental procedures are not claimable from MediSave or Integrated Shield Plans (IPs). However, dental procedures performed under general anaesthesia in a hospital setting — such as full-mouth rehabilitation under GA for young children with severe early childhood caries — may qualify for MediSave use for the hospitalisation component, and the IP may cover the anaesthetist and hospital facility fees subject to the plan's deductible, co-insurance, and rider terms. For any planned procedure under GA, request a pre-treatment financial counselling session at NDCS. The centre's counsellors will issue an itemised estimate splitting the MediSave-claimable portion, any IP Letter of Guarantee amount, and the out-of-pocket balance. For Singapore Citizens with a polyclinic or GP referral, the government subsidy on the specialist consultation and procedure fees reduces costs substantially — confirm subsidy eligibility when booking. Skipping the financial counselling step before a GA procedure is the most common reason families are surprised by the final bill.
