About Ng Teng Fong General Hospital Paediatrics
Ng Teng Fong General Hospital Paediatrics is a public hospital paediatric department located at 1 Jurong East Street 21, serving families across Singapore with access to the western region and islandwide. The department is KakiList-verified. It carries a 2.4/5 rating across 1,141 Google reviews — a robust sample size, though the rating is notably below the typical range for public hospital paediatric services and warrants consideration when planning care. No regulatory licences are listed in this record; given that this is a public hospital department operating under the National University Health System (NUHS), the relevant MOH Healthcare Services Licence and SMC registrations for individual doctors should be confirmed directly with the hospital.
Families typically access the paediatric department via two pathways. The subsidised route uses a polyclinic or GP referral letter to the Specialist Outpatient Clinic (SOC), which brings fees down to S$30–80 per visit for Singapore Citizens after subsidy, with non-urgent appointments carrying a 4–12 week wait. Direct walk-in or self-referred private consultation rates are higher. The department covers paediatric general medicine and likely sub-specialist services including neonatal, respiratory, and developmental paediatrics — confirm the specific specialism or subspecialty that fits your child's presenting condition before booking. The National Childhood Immunisation Programme (NIP) schedule and developmental milestone tracking are typically managed at the polyclinic level, with SOC referrals reserved for complex or specialist-level concerns. Integrated Shield Plan coverage, MediSave 500/700 outpatient limits, and Chronic Disease Management Programme (CDMP) coverage for eligible conditions may apply depending on the nature of the consultation.
To make an appointment, call or submit an enquiry via the online form on the National University Hospital or Ng Teng Fong General Hospital website, and have the polyclinic or GP referral letter ready to secure the subsidised SOC rate and reduce waiting time.
Verify the doctor's name on the Singapore Medical Council register and the clinic's MOH Healthcare Services Licence before booking, and for any planned procedure request a written financial counselling estimate that itemises insurance payout, MediSave deduction, and out-of-pocket portions before paying any deposit.
Went to visit my dad and was pleasantly surprised to see buskers going ward to ward, singing for the patients. It was so warm and comforting, and it truly lifted the atmosphere. Thank you, NTFGH, for arranging this meaningful gesture. 💙🎶

My wife Mdm Rabiah bte Karman was admitted into the AMU ward B2 Bed 7 on Thursday 26th February 2026 and was being discharged on the 2nd of March 2026. She was being transferred from A&E to AMU. The reason why I’m giving one star rating is because, from the first day my wife was there till the day she’s discharged the bed covers that she’s slept was never clean and changed. This is so ridiculous as I thought hospital should maintain their hygiene. But it wasn’t. I’ve been thinking of reporting this matters to the board of health as I’m very dissatisfied and disappointed by the way they do their job. I would like add that the table that my wife used for taking her meals also never been cleaned and also my wife is a diabetic patient when she asked for black Coffee but was given coffee with milk and sugar that so sweet. I was hoping that the head of the department could do something about this matter before I proceed with necessary action. Thank You 🙏
Super slow considering I'm at the A&E department of a hospital. Also, they didn't allow me to accompany my dad into the room but when I asked what are the aftercare instructions or things to take note at the payment counter, the staff mentioned that nurses would've explained it inside the room. FYI my father doesn't speak English and he cannot understand whatever they said but he just agreeds with them in the room. In the end, we left the hospital unclear about the entire process and followup.
NTFGH was my hospital of choice for years, but this experience has me questioning their processes. i was referred from a polyclinic to get a gastroscopy, where the doctors there explained the procedure to me and assured me that i would be sedated, which encouraged me to go ahead with the procedure. without the assurance of sedation, i would not have gone through with the procedure at all. i also heard from people around me that they were sedated during the procedure. at the hospital, the receptionist gave me a document that stated what to do after the procedure as i would be under sedation. i also arranged for someone to bring me home to ensure my safety after being under sedation, as instructed by the hospital. during the procedure, i was given a numbing spray down my throat and then a mouth-widening piece. there was no sedation. i could not ask or request for it as my mouth was already held open by the piece and they started with the procedure while i was confused and scared. it was extremely uncomfortable and i was gagging and crying uncontrollably. i held my hand twice up to request for the procedure to stop, but my hand was just held down by the nurses instead. i don't know if they misunderstood my intention. after the procedure, i was reeled out of the procedure room and i did not see the doctor after that. i asked the nurse why i was not given sedation and they replied that "this doctor usually doesn't give". i'm really confused as to why there was a change in the procedure and why this was not communicated prior. other nurses outside of those involved in the procedure also seemed to be confused, asking their colleagues "hey, this patient wasn't sedated?". if the process was explained to me prior, i could have at least asked and requested for the sedation. and if this is common for this particular doctor, why does the doctor get to decide for the patient without prior consent? it was then written in my report that i "tolerated the procedure well". i really did not have a choice - my request to stop was not taken into consideration. i would like to say, however, that the receptionist and nurses outside of the procedure were lovely.

As a restructured public hospital, fees are means-tested and citizenship-dependent. Singapore Citizens with a polyclinic or GP referral attending the Specialist Outpatient Clinic (SOC) typically pay S$30–80 per consultation after subsidy. Without a referral or for private-rate patients, first specialist consultations generally run S$120–250. Follow-up reviews are lower, typically S$80–180 at private rates. Investigations are billed on top of the consultation fee. Common add-ons include blood panels (S$60–200), X-rays (S$80–150), and ultrasound (S$150–400). Day procedures and planned surgeries will carry separate costs and should be accompanied by a written financial counselling estimate from the hospital that clearly splits insurance payout, MediSave deduction, and out-of-pocket portions before any work begins. Ng Teng Fong General Hospital is a restructured public hospital under MOH's regulatory framework — clinic premises at public hospitals operate under MOH Healthcare Services Act licensing at the institutional level. However, no specific regulatory licences are listed in this provider record, so families should confirm the relevant licences directly with the hospital's administration. Every practising doctor in Singapore is individually registered with the Singapore Medical Council (SMC) — searchable by name at smc.gov.sg to confirm registration status, specialist accreditation in Paediatric Medicine, and any disciplinary history. For subspecialist or surgical work, a Royal College or Academy of Medicine Singapore fellowship (FAMS) is the meaningful additional credential. Ask the hospital to name the consultant paediatrician who will lead your child's care so you can verify their SMC entry before the first appointment.
Integrated Shield Plans (IPs) layered on MediShield Life cover most inpatient stays and day surgery at restructured hospitals, subject to the plan's deductible, co-insurance, and rider rules. For planned procedures, request pre-authorisation and a Letter of Guarantee from your IP insurer before admission to avoid claim disputes after the fact. For outpatient visits, MediSave can be used under the S$500/year general outpatient limit or the S$700/year Chronic Disease Management Programme (CDMP) limit for eligible conditions such as childhood asthma, eczema, or diabetes. Outpatient cancer treatment carries separate MediSave 200/600 limits. Before any planned procedure, request a financial counselling session — the hospital is required to provide a written itemised estimate splitting insurance payout, MediSave deduction, and out-of-pocket cost. Skipping this step is the most common reason families are caught off guard by the final bill.
