About NTFGH Dietetics

About NTFGH Dietetics

NTFGH Dietetics is the dietetics and nutrition service operating within Ng Teng Fong General Hospital at Jurong East, covering patients and outpatients across the island. KakiList has verified the operating details and contact channel. The service holds a 3.5/5 rating across 53 Google reviews — a moderate sample, though the mixed score warrants reading individual reviews before booking. No specific pricing tier has been published; the double-dollar symbol suggests mid-range charges consistent with hospital outpatient dietetics services.

Most people engage a hospital dietitian following a referral from a specialist or general practitioner — for conditions such as diabetes, renal disease, cardiovascular risk, eating disorders, oncology nutrition, or post-bariatric support. First appointments typically involve a detailed dietary history, anthropometric measurements, and a personalised meal plan aligned to the referring clinician's goals. Subsequent sessions track progress, adjust targets, and build longer-term behaviour change. For insurance and MediSave purposes, a formal referral letter strengthens the claim; confirm with your insurer whether dietitian consultations are covered under your plan before attending.

To get started, contact NTFGH Dietetics by phone or via their online enquiry form to confirm whether a referral is required for your specific condition, current waiting times for an outpatient appointment, and the applicable consultation fee.

At A&E and family member is not yet warded. We are not allowed to see the patient even though the patient suffers from parkinson and is unable to pick up phone, and even when the patient does pick up, the voices are not legible. Reached A&E at noon and till 630pm, there is no food provided. Patient told nurses but ignored. At the time of writing, I am awaiting patient to leak and wet the bed because no one here listens. Looking at the recent reviews , I wonder what the hospital administrator is going to do. Perhaps nothing. It is a restructured/ public hospital afterall (mind u, even if its public, this js embarrassing for sg standsrds)

If there is zero stars, I will give zero stars. My father went A&E. When my father was told to be admitted, there are no update from the doctor. The admission officer just call and told us that he will be admitted but unsure of the reasons. They even claimed that the doctor has tried to called me three times but I did not receive a single missed call from the doctor. After waiting for more than 3 hours, the doctor has finally called and explain the situation. To make it worse, my father was suppose to be discharged today and yet the doctor also did not bother to call to inform us the situation. Now, I am just here waiting for the call to update us of the situation. This situation keep repeating itself and in other hospital, the doctor will at least bother to contact us first to update us of the situation before proceeding with the next step.

This review also goes out to JCH. This hospital is aloof and out of touch with the patients. Thus I don’t think they fulfil the pillars of medical ethics. While there are a handful of nurses who do a good job, felt that the organisation of the staff should be better. Doctors only come in the morning which means tht 12pm when it’s time for family visits they are gone. Ward doctors don’t really speak to you. Just fyi I’m speaking based on my experience and opinions not for others. Let’s say that you have a heart, lung and leg problem the more critical doctor will speak to you. Dad had 3 problems, only the lung doc spoke to us because his lung was more serious. Leg doctor didn’t really speak to us when we enquired about leg status except that he’s healing well. But after discharge we found some injury on the leg which was cared for and not informed to the family. We only knew when we visited polyclinic for dressing. Many problems, sometimes we asked for status from doc or at least face to face meet up with doc we were just told by the nurses that it has already been alerted to doctor. And most of the time doctor would call but we want to see X-ray or whatever tests results that was done. Very bad follow ups.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does NTFGH Dietetics charge per session?

NTFGH Dietetics operates as a hospital outpatient service, so fees follow Ng Teng Fong General Hospital's outpatient tariff structure rather than a fixed private-clinic rate. Subsidised patients (Singapore Citizens and PRs seen under the public healthcare subsidy framework) pay substantially less than unsubsidised or private patients — the gap can be significant, so confirm your subsidy eligibility before the appointment. Typical unsubsidised dietitian consultation fees at public hospitals in Singapore range from S$80 to S$180 per session, with follow-up visits sometimes lower than initial assessments. MediSave cannot be used directly for outpatient dietitian consultations, but if the referral is bundled with a chronic disease management programme (such as CDMP), partial MediSave use may apply — verify with the hospital's billing counter. See the full Nutrition & Lifestyle cost guide for Singapore →

Do I need a referral or assessment first?

For most hospital-based dietetics services, a referral from a doctor — either a specialist at NTFGH or a GP under the CHAS or Private GP network — is the standard entry point. The referral ensures the dietitian receives your medical history, latest blood results, and any clinical parameters the treating doctor wants monitored, which makes the first session considerably more productive. Self-referral for general wellness nutrition advice may be possible, but access and waiting times may differ from clinically referred cases. Bring any recent blood work (HbA1c, lipid panel, renal function, body composition results) and a three-day food diary if you have one — these allow the dietitian to conduct a meaningful assessment in the first appointment rather than spending the session on background gathering. If you have a complex condition such as chronic kidney disease, post-surgical nutrition, or oncology-related dietary needs, a GP referral letter also strengthens any insurance or integrated shield plan claim you intend to make.

Is the practitioner licensed?

Dietitians in Singapore are not yet subject to statutory registration under a single mandatory licensing board in the way that physiotherapists (AHPC) or TCM practitioners (TCMPB) are. However, dietitians practising in public hospitals such as NTFGH are typically credentialled members of the Singapore Nutrition and Dietetics Association (SNDA) and hold accredited degrees in dietetics or nutritional sciences from recognised universities. To verify credentials, you may ask the dietitian directly for their SNDA membership status and degree qualification at the first appointment. Practitioners employed within the National University Health System (NUHS) cluster — of which NTFGH is a part — are subject to internal clinical governance and peer review, which provides an additional layer of professional oversight not present in all private nutrition practices. Confirm the practitioner's licence number on the relevant board's public register before treatment.
