Patients are typically referred by a GP or specialist consultant, though self-referrals are accepted for certain nutrition and lifestyle programmes. At the first consultation, the dietitian conducts a detailed dietary assessment covering medical history, current eating patterns, clinical goals (weight management, diabetes control, renal diet, oncology nutrition, cardiovascular risk, or gastrointestinal conditions), and any active prescriptions that influence nutritional needs. Subsequent sessions track progress against measurable targets and adjust the eating plan accordingly. Those managing chronic conditions should bring recent blood results, a medication list, and a rough food diary to the initial appointment. Sessions may be claimable under MediShield Life or an integrated shield plan where dietitian services are bundled into inpatient or day-surgery care; outpatient dietitian consultations may also qualify for subsidised rates depending on the patient's CHAS or Pioneer Generation status.
To make an appointment, contact NUH Dietetics Department by phone or through the enquiry form, confirm the referral pathway that applies to your situation, and ask about current waiting times before attending.
Confirm the practitioner's licence number on the AHPC public register before treatment.
Better than a business class flight. Everyone was so genuinely happy to be there, from doctors to nurses and even staff. Atmosphere felt like a grand spa, didn’t feel tired even after all the health checks. Everyone working there encompassed ALL the best qualities that I’ve never seen anywhere else: patience, friendliness, professionalism, caring, eloquence, empathy and the list goes on. Thank you Dr Karen and team for making this health check journey a tolerable and I would even say enjoyable one for me. I have never seen such perfection in a medical setting, yet this team made the impossible possible. Needles are my no. 1 fear, yet the blood test was painless and everyone was so supportive. It felt like one big family. What surprised me was- nobody asked me for a google review, that’s how well-earned their 5 stars reviews are.
Had an excellent experience at the Wellness Center. Dr Elise Yong has such a calm demeanour and connected well with me as she took me through the examination. Man Yu who is the PSA is excellent and so personable. An excellent experience and at a very reasonable price point.
This is my first time doing my personal health screening with NUH Wellness Centre and I am very glad & satisfied with my experience there. The entire place feels very cozy & relaxing while you are waiting for your turn to do your health check up. The moment you walked in you will be greeted by two of the receptionist who were very friendly & nice towards every patient who walks in for their health screening. Furthermore, there is a complimentary breakfast provided for you too, since you have to fast for 10 hours before the medical checkup for your blood test to be accurate. I will definitely considering coming back to NUH for my personal health screening despite the price is on a higher side.
I had my yearly review with Dr. Elsie Yong and her team, and once again they were absolutely wonderful. Dr Elsie is always attentive, patient, and incredibly detailed. She took the time to listen carefully to all my concerns and explained everything thoroughly, making sure I understood each part of my health assessment. I also want to express my sincere appreciation for Nurse Safarina. She is incredibly patient, attentive, and compassionate. Knowing that I struggle with white coat syndrome, she always takes the time to help calm my nerves before taking my blood pressure—even putting on soft music to help me relax. She never rushes me and carefully takes multiple readings to make sure everything is accurate and that my blood pressure returns to normal. Her kindness and professionalism truly make a difference. I truly appreciate Dr Yong and her team for the dedication and professionalism.
I had an excellent experience at The Wellness Centre @ NUH. From the moment I arrived, the environment felt calm, welcoming, and well organised. The staff were professional, friendly, and incredibly supportive, making me feel comfortable and well cared for throughout my visit. Everything was explained clearly, appointments were well managed, and the overall atmosphere reflected a strong focus on patient wellbeing. It’s clear that the team genuinely cares about the people they support and takes pride in delivering high-quality service. I would highly recommend The Wellness Centre @ NUH to anyone looking for a professional, compassionate, and well-run wellness service. Thank you to the entire team for such a positive experience.

Specific session fees were not provided and will depend on whether the consultation is subsidised or private, and whether it is bundled with an existing outpatient referral. As a public hospital department, NUH Dietetics operates under the MOH means-tested subsidy framework — Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents attending on a subsidised basis typically pay significantly less than the full private rate. Patients holding a CHAS card or Pioneer/Merdeka Generation status may qualify for additional offsets. Out-of-pocket costs for dietitian consultations at restructured hospitals generally range from S$15–50 per subsidised visit to S$80–180 per unsubsidised or private visit, depending on appointment type and consultation length. Confirm your subsidy tier and expected fee at the point of booking. See the full nutrition and lifestyle cost guide for Singapore →
Many patients arrive via a GP or specialist referral — particularly those managing diabetes, kidney disease, oncology nutrition, or post-surgical recovery — and a referral letter often helps secure a subsidised appointment rate and ensures the dietitian has the relevant clinical background before the session. Self-referrals are accepted for certain programmes, such as general weight management or lifestyle counselling. At the first visit, expect an intake assessment covering medical history, current medications, recent blood or clinical results, and a dietary history. Bringing a 3-day food diary and a list of current supplements can make the initial consultation more productive. Patients with complex or multi-system conditions should ask whether a combined clinic with a physician or nurse clinician is available.
Dietitians practising in Singapore are regulated under the Allied Health Professions Council (AHPC), which maintains a public register of licensed dietitians. NUH Dietetics Department operates within the National University Hospital system, which is licensed by MOH as an acute hospital — adding an institutional layer of governance above individual practitioner registration. You can verify any individual dietitian's registration on the AHPC public register at ahpc.edu.sg by searching under the Dietitian profession. If you are seeing a specific dietitian and wish to confirm their registration status, request their full name and AHPC registration number at the point of appointment booking.
