About Singapore Respiratory Specialists
Singapore Respiratory Specialists is a private specialist clinic located at Mount Elizabeth Medical Centre, serving patients islandwide. The clinic is KakiList-verified, with a rating of 4.7 out of 5 from 31 Google reviews — a moderate sample that suggests consistent patient experience, though prospective patients are encouraged to read individual reviews before booking. No regulatory licences appear in the listing data; patients should confirm the clinic's MOH Healthcare Services Licence and the consulting doctor's Singapore Medical Council (SMC) registration directly before booking.
Patients typically access private respiratory specialists either through a direct self-referral (first consultation typically S$120–250 at private rates) or via a polyclinic or GP referral letter, which unlocks the subsidised outpatient clinic (SOC) pathway at a public hospital for Singapore Citizens at S$30–80, though non-urgent SOC waits typically run four to twelve weeks. At a private paediatric respiratory setting, the consulting paediatrician or subspecialist will take a detailed history, assess presenting symptoms — such as recurrent wheeze, chronic cough, asthma, sleep-disordered breathing, or recurrent chest infections — and may order lung function tests, skin-prick allergy testing, chest X-ray, or blood investigations before discussing a management plan. Integrated Shield Plans layered on MediShield Life generally cover specialist consultations and day procedures subject to the plan's deductible, co-insurance, and rider rules; MediSave may be used for selected outpatient chronic conditions under the Chronic Disease Management Programme, including asthma.
To make an appointment, contact Singapore Respiratory Specialists by phone or through the enquiry form on their listing, and bring your child's vaccination records, any previous investigation results, and your Integrated Shield Plan card so the clinic can advise on insurance coverage at the point of registration.
Verify the doctor's name on the Singapore Medical Council register and the clinic's MOH Healthcare Services Licence before booking, and for any planned procedure request a written financial counselling estimate that itemises insurance payout, MediSave deduction, and out-of-pocket portions before paying any deposit.
I am writing in to compliment the excellent professional expertise provided by Dr Steve Yang and the exceptional service by his two professional nurses Mardiana and Issey. My family has been under the remarkable care of Dr Yang for many years now, his expertise is truly cutting edge, particularly astute in his diagnosis that made all the difference. Dr Yang always takes efforts in patiently understanding the symptoms, offered great support through clear communication throughout from the initial consultation to the very end. Ethical, recommending only treatment that is needful, relevant and beneficial, this greatly helps us make prudent informed decisions. I feel our interests always comes first, and never just another statistics to him, I am truly grateful for that. Noteworthy are his nurses whom I call angels. Although busy, they are always prompt with replies, putting patients as priority. Recently I needed some urgent medical record in 2020, *Mardiana* with her consistent exceptional professionalism, went all out to assist me even when she was inconvenienced over her lunchtime. Admirably how she’s simply such a good listener to empathise and acted upon it, rendering assistance and such assurance during emergency crunch time, not once but even during the distressful frenzy hospitalisations, which I’m so very thankful for. The treasured traits of integrity, sincerity and empathy from Dr Yang to his nurses is highly commendable. They have definitely added much value to the healthcare fraternity in SG, one who knows the true meaning of empathy and efficiency, I can only say they are amongst the finest I've known, and their potentials must not be underestimated! Thank you!! Michael & Ellis Tan
I highly recommend Dr. Steve at The Respiratory Practice (Mt.E). He's my go-to doctor for all respiratory stuff, and honestly, having him as my respiratory doctor makes a huge difference. Whenever I have bad asthma episodes, Dr Steve knows what to prescribe to get me treated and recover quickly. Having Dr Steve manage my care also makes my hospital stays more worry-free. Dr Steve is also very calm and patient and gives great advice on managing my asthma. Also, a massive shout-out to Nurse Mardiana at the clinic. She's seriously knowledgeable and efficient, and she's also just genuinely helpful and kind. I'm truly cared for whenever I visit this clinic. Thank you so much. What a fantastic team!
In October 2023, my sister was hospitalised at Mt. Elizabeth Orchard. Her condition was critical. Dr. Yang, of the team of Specialist Doctors, treated her respiratory problem. Dr. Yang is very experienced, knowledgeable and thorough and under his care and treatment, my sister's respiratory condition stabilised. Since her discharge from hospital until now, my sister is very blessed to have Dr. Yang's professional care and treatment from time to time. Dr. Yang always explains his treatment plan very clearly and thoroughly, sometimes with picture drawing to help us better understand. Courteous and respectful, Dr. Yang is also very kind, patient and approachable. One Sunday morning, we called the hotline, after operating hours and he returned our call very promptly. We are very grateful and thankful to Dr. Yang for the compassionate and excellent overall care he has given to my sister from time to time. We are also very grateful and thankful to Dr. Yang's clinic staff, Mardiana and Issey for their respect, thoughtfulness, patience and for going the extra mile to help us. From : Grace, sister of patient Casilda
Dr Steve Yang has an amazing bedside manner and superb diagnostic skill. His medicine just works wonders. Highly recommend coming here for any of your respiratory needs!
Dr Lee Chuen Peng is a meticulous doctor, who pays close attention to his patients' subjective experience, on top of clinical outcomes. He helped me to resolve some persistent sleep apnea issues that other doctors were unable to make headway with. The admin team from the Mount E outlet - special mention to Mardiana - is also prompt and responsive.

Private specialist first consultations in Singapore typically run S$120–250, with follow-up visits at S$80–180. Investigations billed on top may include a blood panel (S$60–200), chest X-ray (S$80–150), spirometry or lung function testing (S$80–200), skin-prick allergy testing (S$100–250), or ultrasound (S$150–400). GST applies on private medical services. For any planned procedure or day surgery, the clinic should provide a written financial counselling estimate that itemises the insurance payout, MediSave deduction, and out-of-pocket portions before you commit. Patients covered by an Integrated Shield Plan should confirm pre-authorisation with their insurer and, where applicable, request a Letter of Guarantee before the procedure date. No MOH Healthcare Services Licence or Singapore Medical Council (SMC) registration appears in the current listing data for Singapore Respiratory Specialists. Both are mandatory for any legitimate private specialist clinic operating in Singapore — the clinic licence is verifiable on the MOH licensee directory, and the consulting doctor's SMC registration status and specialist accreditation can be confirmed on the SMC public register at smc.gov.sg. For paediatric respiratory subspecialists, look for FAMS (Fellow of the Academy of Medicine Singapore) or a relevant Royal College fellowship as an additional credential beyond basic SMC registration. Confirm both the clinic's MOH licence and the named doctor's SMC entry before booking — neither alone is sufficient, and the absence of either is a reason to enquire further before proceeding.
Integrated Shield Plans (IPs) layered on MediShield Life generally cover private specialist consultations, day procedures, and inpatient stays subject to each plan's deductible, co-insurance, and rider rules. Confirm pre-authorisation with your insurer before any planned procedure and request a Letter of Guarantee where applicable to avoid billing disputes after the fact. MediSave can be used for selected outpatient chronic conditions under the Chronic Disease Management Programme (CDMP), which covers asthma among other listed conditions, within the S$500/year general outpatient or S$700/year CDMP withdrawal limits. For any planned investigation or procedure, ask the clinic for a written financial counselling estimate that clearly splits the insurance payout, MediSave deduction, and out-of-pocket amounts before committing. Skipping this step is the most common cause of unexpectedly high final bills.
