It holds a 4.9-star rating across 97 Google reviews, which represents a moderately robust sample and suggests consistent patient satisfaction. Paediatric orthopaedic consultations typically cover conditions including scoliosis, limb-length discrepancy, clubfoot, developmental dysplasia of the hip, gait abnormalities, fractures, and sports injuries in children and adolescents. A first private specialist consultation at a clinic of this type generally runs S$120–250 without a referral, or S$30–80 via a polyclinic or GP referral letter through a public hospital Specialist Outpatient Clinic. The consulting surgeon's credentials — typically a fellowship in orthopaedic surgery (FRCS or FAMS) with a paediatric subspecialty focus — should be confirmed on the SMC specialist register. Investigations such as X-rays, ultrasound, or MRI may be ordered at the first visit and billed separately. Any planned procedure should be preceded by a written financial counselling estimate itemising insurance payout, MediSave deduction, and out-of-pocket cost.

To make an appointment, contact Specialist Ortho Paediatric via WhatsApp, phone, or the online enquiry form, and bring along any referral letter, previous imaging, and your child's health records to the first consultation.

Dr Lam is very patient and highly knowledgeable in his area of specialty. He always takes the time to thoroughly explain my son’s condition to us and my parents in Mandarin, which we really appreciate. The clinic assistants are also very welcoming and friendly. The only slight inconvenience is that I have to remind the clinic assistants before each appointment with Dr Lam to send the referral form to Mount A’s radiology department before my son can undergo his ultrasound or X-ray. Aside from this, our overall experience at the clinic has always b

I dislocated my knee recently and it was quite scary but I’m glad I went to Bone Island. Dr Lam was very patient and took time to explain everything clearly, like the recovery process, surgery risks (as my condition was quite serious) and how to take care of my leg after it heals. He’s very kind and honest and made me feel comfortable every visit. The clinic staff were also very nice and friendly. I had a very good experience and I’m very grateful for their help. I would definitely recommend this clinic. :)

Very attentive and patient staff and doctors at Bone island.... They showed professionalism and are very detailed with their assessment. My daughter was complaining of knee pain for months, saw a few specialist... After seeing Dr Lam and his team, and with the recommendations of physio sessions,U daughter's knee condition is definitely improving. Thank you Dr Lam.

Dr Lam needs no introduction or review in the field of pediatric orthopedic medicine. As a doctor I had only heard good things about him, and personally when I needed help for my child- he definitely outshone my expectations. Besides being academically brilliant, he is extremely good with kids (mine was a toddler who didn’t cry at all throughout his examination), excellent in bedside manners, and follows a good balance at being neither too conservative or too aggressive. Would highly recommend him.

Dr. Lam is kind, warm, and puts kids at ease. He explains every step clearly and specifies do/donts, leaving you with a clear understanding of how to support your child. The gentlemen who put on the cast/remove are fun, warm, and do things quickly so that there is no room for the kids’ anxiety to grow. Overall, I highly recommend Dr. Lam and his clinic.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does Specialist Ortho Paediatric charge?

A first private specialist consultation at a paediatric orthopaedic clinic typically costs S$120–250 without a referral; attending via a polyclinic or GP referral letter to a public hospital Specialist Outpatient Clinic brings this down to S$30–80 for Singapore Citizens after subsidy, though waits of 4–12 weeks for non-urgent cases are common. Follow-up visits generally run S$80–180. Common add-ons billed on top of the consultation fee include X-rays (S$80–150), ultrasound (S$150–400), MRI (S$600–1,800), casting or bracing, and any surgical procedures. Day surgery for paediatric orthopaedic conditions can range from S$3,000 to S$25,000+ depending on the procedure and ward class. GST applies to private medical services. For any planned procedure, request a written financial counselling estimate that clearly splits insurance payout, MediSave deduction, and out-of-pocket portions before signing any consent. Is Specialist Ortho Paediatric MOH-licensed and how do I verify the doctor?

Every legitimate private specialist clinic must hold an MOH Healthcare Services Licence under the Healthcare Services Act — verifiable on the MOH licensee directory by clinic name or address. Every practising doctor must also appear on the Singapore Medical Council (SMC) public register at smc.gov.sg, where you can confirm registration status, specialist accreditation (in this case, Orthopaedic Surgery with a paediatric subspecialty focus), and any disciplinary history. For paediatric orthopaedic surgeons, a Royal College or Academy of Medicine Singapore fellowship — FRCS (Orth) or FAMS — is the meaningful additional credential beyond basic SMC registration. No licences appear in the current listing data for Specialist Ortho Paediatric; parents should verify both the clinic's MOH licence and the named doctor's SMC entry independently before booking. Neither confirmation alone is sufficient.

How do I use MediSave or insurance at Specialist Ortho Paediatric?

Integrated Shield Plans (IPs) layered on MediShield Life cover most private specialist consultations, day surgery, and inpatient admissions, subject to the plan's deductible, co-insurance, and rider rules. For any planned procedure, obtain pre-authorisation and a Letter of Guarantee from your insurer before the surgery date to avoid post-treatment claim disputes. MediSave can be used for selected outpatient items under the S$500/700 annual withdrawal limits, and for inpatient orthopaedic procedures it is commonly applied to the surgical and anaesthesia components. For children, parents or guardians may use their own MediSave to pay for the child's eligible medical expenses. Before any planned orthopaedic procedure — whether fracture fixation, spinal surgery, or soft-tissue repair — request a financial counselling session at the clinic. A reputable practice will issue an itemised pre-treatment estimate showing the insurance payout, MediSave deduction, and remaining out-of-pocket amount in writing. Skipping this step is the most common reason families are surprised by the final bill.
