About Terry Chew Academy
Terry Chew Academy is a tuition centre operating islandwide from its base at Goldhill Shopping Centre on Thomson Road, Singapore. The centre is KakiList-verified and ACRA-registered, providing a degree of administrative transparency. It holds a 4.2-out-of-5 rating across 79 Google reviews — a moderate sample that offers a reasonable directional signal of student and parent experience. Fees are priced in the mid-range ($$) for the tuition sector, though prospective families should confirm exact session or monthly rates directly with the academy.
When enquiring, it helps to come prepared with your child's current school level, the specific subject and syllabus (MOE, IB, IGCSE, or other), and any recent assessment results so the academy can advise on appropriate group placement or one-to-one arrangements. Ask whether a trial class is available before committing to a term, and clarify whether fees are charged per session or bundled into monthly or term packages. It is also worth confirming whether classes are conducted on-site at Thomson Road, at other islandwide locations, or online, and whether any materials fees apply.
The most direct next step is to reach out via WhatsApp, phone, or the online form to ask about current availability for your child's level, confirm the fee structure, and enquire about a trial class before signing up for a full term.
Take the trial class and confirm the tutor's actual credentials before committing to a term.
My son has learnt a lot and love the teacher so much, he has earned multiple of math medals including ranked 1 for SEAMO and SEAMO X
I’ve been attending Terry Chew since grade 7. They have great coaches and I like their problem solving methods. Learning Olympiad maths not only improves your maths but also your critical thinking skills and logical reasoning which also helps you especially on economics subjects. My economics teacher always compliments my critical thinking skills. Thanks Terry Chew for great lessons!
Very experienced math olympiad coaches who are patient and willing to work with kids of all levels of ability (not just the gifted kids). Coach Catherine has been doing a great job so far, and I hope she stays... My son loves it that there is no homework/assignments after each class, and as a parent, I love the convenience of online (small group) class. However I would not recommend joining hybrid class option where there is a mix of online+onsite students in the same class, as the onsite kids are typically noisy/attention-seeking and the coach was unable to control them. Such disruptive onsite students were also not booted out of the class, and every few minutes the coach would yell at them, turning the class into a circus! If an online student was disruptive, he can he muted on zoom, therefore it was unfair that disruptive onsite students were not punished and continued to be a nuisance every week! If there wasn't the option of non-hybrid/ fully online class, I would not have continued.
My kid has wonderful time studying at Terry Chew Academy. The lessons are engaging and brilliant. Math has never been so much fun before and Piyo is never tired of learning new knowledge while enjoying herself with Terry Chew Academy lessons!
Before: I used to score 85 marks in Primary 4 and my grades dropped to 50 marks in Primary 5. I felt that math was difficult and I did not feel like practising. During: While attending the Math Mastery course, I was taught concepts from topics like excess & shortage, area & perimeter and more. Some strategies to solve problems quickly and effectively were also taught. I found the lessons challenging but easy to understand. After: By the end of the course, I feel much more confident in mathematics and started to love the subject. I am now striving to build up my critical thinking skills and score an A* in the school Exam!

Terry Chew Academy is priced in the mid-range ($$) for Singapore tuition centres, but exact per-session or monthly package rates are not publicly listed and should be confirmed directly with the academy. Tuition fees in Singapore typically vary by level (primary, secondary, JC), subject, and class format (group versus one-to-one), so the rate for your child's specific needs may differ from general market benchmarks. Ask whether there is a one-off registration or materials fee in addition to tuition costs. Some centres offer sibling discounts or reduced rates for block-term bookings. If a trial class is available, confirm whether it is charged at the full session rate or at a reduced introductory fee. See the full tuition centre cost guide for Singapore →
It is worth asking Terry Chew Academy whether a trial class is available before you commit to a full term or monthly package. A trial session gives your child the opportunity to experience the teaching pace, class size, and level of difficulty — all of which are difficult to gauge from a website or brochure alone. During or after the trial, observe whether the content aligns with your child's current school syllabus and whether the teaching style suits how your child learns. Group classes can vary significantly in size and dynamic, so it is reasonable to ask how many students share the same session. Contact the academy via WhatsApp, phone, or the enquiry form to ask about trial class availability and any applicable fee.
Specific tutor credentials are not listed in the publicly available information for Terry Chew Academy. When enquiring, it is reasonable to ask whether tutors hold NIE training or prior MOE teaching experience, what degree qualifications they have in the relevant subject, and how many years they have been teaching at this level. Also ask which syllabus versions the tutors are familiar with — for instance, whether they are up to date with the latest MOE primary or secondary syllabuses, or whether they have experience with IB, IGCSE, or AP curricula if those are relevant to your child. Raise these questions directly with the academy before committing to a term so you can make an informed assessment of fit.
