I had a bad experience with Soak Mun, and I left feeling more traumatised by the therapy to add to the trauma I already had. I was overwhelmed, in grief and isolated initially with a short bad experience with another therapist, and Soak Mun has: -I was overwhelmed initially and couldn't articulate myself much. She spoke with irritation in this slightly louder, faster and serious tone asking me whether my issues are longstanding and happened recently. When I couldn't answer she started explaining the difference, but in an even more irritated tone, essentially invalidating all my emotions. -Ironically, she asked me not to repress my emotions due to masculinity, when I was already overwhelmed with emotions. She seemed prejudiced against men, and lacked the awareness to discern the source of her emotions, paggro-ing them and scapegoating me. -I once brought up how I was very agitated, irritable and had violent thoughts after an adhd assessment where the person asked me about my family. She told me she thought I would find the "HSP" term helpful. When I said I considered that but also thought that this reaction could be a result of trauma or neurodivergence too, she (roughly) told me that "I told you because I thought you would find it helpful. If you're not interested then it's okay lor" -I also once brought up feeling a lot of shame in certain situations. She sounded defensive and told me "what's wrong with that?? I also broke a bowl last week." She also kept asking me what automatic thoughts I had. Even when I told her I did not have any automatic thoughts, she gaslights and says I may not realise it. She didnt further probe into this or give advice figuring out. -This happened in the context of discussing stress. I once brought up that I once went to see a doctor when I was very anxious, and the doctor was very dismissive and condescending. Later, I dreaded going to the doctor. She told me that then I should find coping mechanisms to release emotions. And that the doctor might just be having a bad day. She did not suggest anything I could do in that moment and left that conversation hanging. -When I brought up about how recently I was trying to figure out whether I had any physical medical issues contributing to psychiatric issues, she roughly replied "got physical issues can cause this one meh" - When I brought up that I don't feel safe talking about myself in therapy, she to do the emdr exercise to find a "wise person" etc instead of addressing why I was feeling uncomfortable. - When I brought up how I get detached when stressed recently, and my train of thought can get incoherent, she dismissed me "careful ah, you have adhd so it can just be ADHD" She also changes the topic nearly immediately when I say I have certain compulsive coping mechanisms - When she seemed stressed to me after I told her about trying to figure out trauma and was fidgeting more than usual, I asked her about it and she gaslights and say her back pain. - I have told her explicitly "please validate me more" and she doesn't change, or ask further for clarification other than to say "okay" and continue as usual. I felt invalidated, dismissed, gaslit, and traumatised. Soak Mun does not seem to understand trauma well. She makes assumptions and doesn't confirm or clarify her doubts, dismissing my opinions. I spent a lot of effort explaining myself and figuring things out without much effort from her. She seems not open to alternative opinions and wasn't listening well. I left therapy isolated every week. I also had a lot of self-doubt, so I was second-guessing my negative impression of her initially. I regret not realising the impact the therapy had on me earlier, and I regret not leaving earlier. Soak Mun did not put in effort in understanding me, or finding out more. (In response, the clinic has not done any reflection, and has instead resorted to infantilising me in a reply to me, trying to manipulate with psycholopathy and a complete lack of empathy. There were some sus 5* reviews immediately posted that have been removed as well.)

July 2025: Very poor and distasteful experience with psychologist, who was very condescending from the onset and putting the blame entirely on us for the issue we approached her with. She drew her conclusions based entirely off the information we gave her in the registration form, unaware and disinterested in wanting to find out more about contextual details. Her words were exactly “you do realise that (the issue) is because of (the actions we took), right?” And this followed with a lot of talk-down, as if we had never read up on this issue beforehand and she is the only expert. She also downplayed our previous action of having approached a therapist first, where she stated “but you know a therapist is not qualified to (give any useful feedback), right? Only a psychologist can do that.” She was also clearly unaware that the information we provided her with in the registration form was one-sided, as we thought she would take the effort to find out more when we met. We have yet to share our struggle and we were already blamed for having the struggle already. We are honestly very shocked by this interaction and within 5 minutes of meeting, she had already made us feel completely bad about ourselves and broke the trust that we had in psychologists. We were vulnerable and honest in the information we entrusted her with in the registration form, never expecting that it could be used against us in such a manner. Very distasteful interaction and will caution people who are considering this place. 21 Oct 25: Reply in response to company’s reply today. I had already contacted the psychologist in question 3 days after seeing her. She apologised, which we appreciate, though the damage is already done. I’m just glad that we have the clarity of mind to discontinue after the first distasteful session and have the strength to continue looking for help elsewhere. I also note that there’s another poor review given by someone else but would like to add that the therapist who was mentioned there is not the same as mine- which is perhaps worse as it means that there’s another very negative experience. My experience was similar to that reviewer; with a lot of dismissive comments, blame and shame. I’m getting a reply from this review about 3 months after it was posted, and in this interim I never heard from the company. I feel that if the company is sincere or serious about feedback, as it mentioned, it would be nice to reach out to me to find out what went wrong; rather than to put the onus on us to reach out back to you, after putting up a poor review. If the company wishes to pursue it internally, the psychologist also received an email of feedback from us after the session, so you could also look for her. Feel free to contact me privately if you wish to find out more, but don’t put it as though we did not provide the feedback initially.

I can thank Karin enough for the wonderful support that she has given my daughter who has mild ASD. Recently she faced challenges at school where she rebelled and stop doing assignments in class. Through Karin counselling and initiative to call the school councillor, we managed to identify and subsequently rectify the issue. My daughter now completes her assignment at school, and every afternoon when I pick her up I see her smiling and in great mood. When she told me that she had a great day at school, I am reminded that I am lucky to have Karin’s help in this challenging journey.

The most empathetic, professional, and supportive psychologists work here! Highly recommend this for anyone who is considering, just beginning to explore, or has tried all manner of psychological/psychiatric services and haven’t found the perfect fit. Can’t recommend this place more for those of all ages and needs. Thanks to the professionals here for providing support to my family throughout the years 🙏.

Despite claiming to assist those in mental distress, this center engages in unethical business practices. The lack of transparency about the initial costs being $250 per session is predatory and screams red flag
